Homemade Peanut Butter

Homemade Peanut Butter- Printable Version

Ingredients:

1 jar dry roasted, unsalted peanuts

Directions:

SMOOTH peanut butter:

  1. Pour the entire jar of peanuts into a food processor.
  2. Turn the processor on and let it run until the peanuts make a smooth butter. (about 5 minutes)
  3. Place in a jar and keep in the pantry or fridge for up to about 2 months.

CHUNKY peanut butter:

  1. Pour about 3/4 of the jar of peanuts into a food processor.
  2. Turn the processor on and let it run until the peanuts make a smooth butter. (about 5 minutes)
  3. Then add the remainder of the nuts and pulse them into the smooth mixture to make a chunkier butter.
  4. Place in a jar and keep in the pantry or fridge for up to about 2 months.

Notes:

The nuts will go through three changes during the mixing process.

First, they will first turn into a crumble. Sometimes I stop it here and save some of the crumble. This is perfect as an ice cream topping!!

Second, it will ball up. It seems kind of violent during this stage and you think it will never turn into butter. But trust me, it is almost there!!

Third, it will turn into a smooth butter!! No oil needed!
