1/2 cup popcorn kernels
2 tbsp. sunflower oil (or vegetable oil)
6 tbsp. salted butter (melted)
4-5 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Pour popcorn kernels and oil into a large pot. Mix so that the kernels are covered in oil. **Note: you do not want there to be too much oil at the bottom of the pan or the popcorn will have trouble popping.
- Shake the pan over high heat until most kernels have been popped. Set aside.
- Mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Pour over the top of your popcorn.
- Eat up!!
Don’t want caramel corn? Just make the popcorn as directed and add salt flavoring or butter for a delicious snack!
I play around with the butter/brown sugar ratio all the time! One thing I have learned is to not put too much brown sugar in it or it becomes too rich. Start with less brown sugar and add more until you get your desired consistency.
You do not have to use salted butter; however, I love the salty flavor it adds!
